Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team, carrying out a varied range of building maintenance, repair and refurbishment works across commercial premises.
The successful candidate will have a strong practical background, with particular skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting and decorating, and will be comfortable undertaking a variety of general building and maintenance tasks to a high standard.
Main Duties Include:
- Carry out general building maintenance, repairs and making-good works.
- Undertake carpentry and joinery, including repairs and installation of doors, frames, skirting, architraves, shelving, cupboards and general timber work.
- Carry out minor plumbing works, including replacement of taps, valves, wastes, traps and sanitary fittings, along with investigation and repair of minor leaks.
- Complete painting and decorating works, including preparation, filling, sanding, making good, painting walls, ceilings, doors, frames and other surfaces.
- Install fixtures, fittings, signage and other building fabric items.
- Identify defects and recommend suitable repairs where required.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Set up appropriate barriers and signage to protect the working area.
- Follow site-specific RAMS, permit-to-work procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and tidy working area throughout the works.
- Ensure all work is completed to a professional standard with particular attention to quality and finish.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, site representatives and other trades.
Essential Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- Valid CSCS card
- Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Operative, Maintenance Operative, Handyman or Building Maintenance Technician.
- Good carpentry and joinery skills.
- Good general plumbing knowledge and experience.
- Strong painting and decorating skills.
- Experience carrying out general building fabric repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work neatly and professionally within occupied commercial premises.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- A reliable, professional and flexible approach to work.
Additional Information:
- DBS checks will be compulsory for all successful applicants
- Company van provided upon successful completion of probation period
- The role will cover sites in Slough, Hemel Hempstead and Dagenham
