Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Class 1 and Class 2 HGV Driver, where your expertise in commercial driving will keep our logistics operations moving seamlessly. You will be responsible for operating heavy goods vehicles safely and efficiently, delivering a variety of cargo across diverse routes, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate HGVs (Heavy Goods Vehicles) including Class 1 (articulated lorries) and Class 2 (rigid trucks) to transport goods to various destinations.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety regulations.
- Plan delivery routes effectively, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs while adhering to delivery schedules.
- Load and unload cargo with care, paying close attention to securement procedures, especially when handling flatbed loads or fragile items.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including logs, manifests, and delivery confirmation records.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, and warehouse teams to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
- Follow all traffic laws, health and safety regulations, and company policies during every journey.
Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) or Class 2 (C) driving license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver, preferably with flatbed or similar cargo types.
- Knowledge of road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance procedures, and load securement techniques.
- Ability to operate large vehicles confidently in various traffic conditions.
- Strong organizational skills to plan routes efficiently and manage delivery schedules effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with team members and customers professionally.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends or extended hours as needed.
