Who are we?
Go-Ahead London is the leading operator and largest provider of bus passenger travel in London operating routes on behalf of TFL. We employ over 6,000 drivers operating approximately 2300 buses, from our 17 depots in South, North and East London.
You are applying for the role of Apprentice Bus Driver for Go-Ahead. Applying for the position of an Apprentice Bus Driver could be the start of a journey within an industry that grows its business by encouraging and developing those who see this as a genuine career opportunity.
What is an Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a job that helps you learn while you earn, starting as a trainee bus driver, providing you with the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to gain a qualification. At Go-Ahead you’ll spend 20% of your time working towards an industry-recognised professional qualification, and the rest of the time gaining hands-on, practical experience.
Why should I choose an apprenticeship?
We offer high quality apprenticeships with a framework that provides structure and support. We offer a competitive salary and employee benefits reward package, as well as a friendly atmosphere that will help you learn.
You will be enrolled on to our apprenticeship programme which is called “Passenger Transport Driver - Bus, Coach & Tram (Level 2)". The apprenticeship programme lasts for 53 weeks, during which time you will receive additional training over and above the initial licence acquisition training to pass the PCV tests. Once you have successfully completed the apprenticeship programme you will gain a nationally recognised qualification which is equivalent to 5 good GCSE's.
As an Apprentice Bus Driver, you will need to be numerate and literate; applicants will need to demonstrate these skills by passing a Level 1 functional skills assessment as part of the initial recruitment process.
