Overview
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead our workshop and field service operations, specialising in woodchippers and arboricultural machinery.
This is a hands-on management role for someone who understands machinery, enjoys solving technical problems and can lead a team while ensuring customers receive an efficient, professional service.
You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day running of the service department, coordinating engineers and technicians, overseeing repairs and servicing, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilites
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the service and workshop department.
- Lead, support and develop a team of service engineers and technicians.
- Plan and allocate workshop and field service work.
- Diagnose and oversee repairs to woodchippers and associated arboricultural machinery.
- Coordinate servicing, maintenance, breakdowns, inspections and warranty work.
- Liaise with customers to understand requirements and provide clear updates.
- Prepare and manage quotations, job sheets and service reports.
- Monitor Job progress, labour utilisation and departmental performance.
- Ensure parts and equipment are available to complete jobs efficiently.
- Work closely with the parts, sales and management teams.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety and ensure compliance with relevent procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, customer service and profitability.
- Provide technical support and guidance to engineers where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience in service management, workshop management or senior engineering role.
- Strong mechanical and technical knowledge, ideally with experience of woodchippers, shredders, stump grinders or other arboricultural equipment.
- Experience managing or supervising engineers/technicians.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to management.
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety.
- The ability to use service management systems and standard computer software.
- A full driving licence.
Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
