About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance & Compliance Officer to join our Finance team.
This role supports the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including budget control, payroll verification, financial compliance, and internal controls. You will work closely with multiple departments to ensure financial processes are accurate, compliant, and efficiently managed.

Key ResponsibilitiesBudget & Financial Control
- Review departmental budgets, expense claims, petty cash requests, and other business expenditures.
- Monitor budget utilisation and identify variances against approved budgets.
- Verify supporting documentation for payments and reimbursements.
- Assist with budget reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Support the continuous improvement of financial control processes.
Payroll & Financial Administration
- Review monthly payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Verify salary adjustments, employee records, and payroll changes.
- Reconcile payroll reports with payment records before processing.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies where necessary.
- Support payroll administration and finance-related documentation.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Monitor financial transactions to identify irregular, duplicate, or unusual activity.
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and compliant with internal policies.
- Maintain confidential financial information in accordance with company procedures.
- Support internal audits, financial reviews, and compliance activities.
- Prepare regular reports and recommendations for management.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Finance, HR, Operations, and other departments to support financial processes.
- Assist with budgeting, reimbursement approvals, and payment workflows.
- Contribute to finance process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.
RequirementsEssential
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Relevant UK professional qualifications (such as AAT or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA) are advantageous.
- Previous experience in Finance, Accounting, Payroll, Audit, Budget Control, or Financial Compliance.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills with experience analysing and reconciling financial data.
- Experience using accounting or ERP systems such as Xero, Sage, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar.
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Skills
- Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-currency finance operations.
- Knowledge of payroll administration, taxation, and expense management.
- Experience with budgeting, reimbursement systems, and financial approval workflows.
- Familiarity with UK payroll, VAT, and financial compliance requirements.
- Experience working within fast-growing or international organisations.

Pay: £24,420.00-£32,699.06 per year
