PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Due to continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity, for a Mechanical Fitter to join a fast growing, modern & innovative business. Working alongside a friendly & welcoming team, we are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive & organised person to join our team in Fareham.
Reporting to the Solutions Engineer, the role of the Mechanical Fitter will be to provide mechanical support both in the workshop and on site as and when required. Predominantly in the workshop, this work will include maintenance, service and modifications to clients existing conveying plant and equipment as well as installation of new works.
This role is ideal for someone looking for hands-on work in a manufacturing environment. You will be part of a busy team where attention to detail, reliability & teamwork are key.
SCOPE
Serpecon manufactures, maintains, refurbishes and installs both shafted and shaft-less screw conveyors to clients throughout the UK water industry. It is desirable that the role holder has experience of installing and maintaining equipment of this or a similar nature.
HOURS
Full Time (Permanent) - 45 hours/week. (Salary negotiable)
Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5:00pm
Though flexibility is required, it is expected that candidates will be willing to work overtime as and when the situation dictates.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
· A mechanical engineering qualification
· Experience of onsite mechanical fitting
· Knowledge of screw conveyors or similar
· Understanding of engineering drawings
· Strong practical problem-solving skills
· Ability to use hand and power tools safely
· High attention to detail
· Forklift experience – desirable
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
· Support fitting, dismantling, and repair activities
· Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
· Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to minimise downtime
· Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and instructions
· Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
· Follow all health & safety and environmental procedures
· Collaborate with colleagues across teams to support operational requirements
