LMA is a fast-growing specialist creative higher education provider, committed to widening access to higher education and supporting students to succeed. As part of the Galileo Global Education network, LMA offers students and staff access to a wider international education community while retaining a distinctive, creative and student-focused culture.
An opportunity has arisen to join the Student Experience team at our London campus, based at Here East in Stratford, as a Student Support Adviser.
The role
This is an on-campus, front-line student support role, working with students across a range of personal, pastoral and academic matters.
The successful candidate will be approachable, organised and confident working with students who may need practical advice, reassurance or more specialist support. Good judgement is important: the role involves identifying what a student needs, recognising when an issue requires escalation, and ensuring that students are directed to the right support at the right time.
Working closely with Student Support colleagues across all LMA campuses, academic departments and specialist support services, the postholder will help provide an efficient, professional and welcoming service throughout the student journey.
Key responsibilities
- Provide accessible and professional information, advice and initial support to students on personal, pastoral and academic matters.
- Use effective triage skills to identify urgent, complex or higher-risk concerns and escalate these appropriately.
- Assess student needs and make appropriate referrals to internal and external support services.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records of student contact and agreed actions.
- Communicate clearly and sensitively with students, staff and external partners.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of relevant LMA policies and procedures, including those relating to student support, safeguarding and academic processes.
- Work closely with the wider team to support induction, orientation, wellbeing activity and other student-facing events.
- Contribute to the review of student feedback and continuous improvement of Student Support.
- Support key campus events, which may include Open Days, careers activity, student performances, screenings and exhibitions.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the legal and regulatory requirements relevant to supporting young people and vulnerable adults.
About you
A strong candidate is likely to have:
- experience of working in higher education, further education, sixth-form or another student-facing education environment;
- excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills;
- the ability to build positive and professional relationships with students;
- good judgement and confidence in identifying when concerns should be escalated;
- strong administrative, organisational and time-management skills;
- a high level of IT confidence, particularly using Google Workspace;
- an understanding of safeguarding and the responsibilities involved in working with young people and vulnerable adults; and
- the ability to work collaboratively as part of a busy student-facing team.
Experience or knowledge of UCAS, Student Finance or student recruitment and outreach would be beneficial, but is not essential.
What LMA offers

- Company pension.
- Professional development and opportunities for career progression.
