Wren & Raven is a growing, independent café in the heart of Penzance, entering our first full year after opening last June. We have built strong foundations, have exciting plans ahead, and carry real ambition for the future.
As we move into our busiest season, we are looking for a strong, experienced Barista to join our team
This is not just a coffee-making role — we are looking for someone who genuinely cares about quality, pace and consistency in a high-volume café environment, and who has a real passion for coffee as a craft.
We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes coffee — someone who is genuinely excited by it, takes pride in their work, and enjoys sharing that enthusiasm with both customers and the wider team.
While coffee will be your primary focus, this is very much a front-of-house role within a hands-on team. We all support one another, and you will be fully trained across front-of-house responsibilities.
You will be working in a fast-paced, high-volume daytime café, delivering consistently excellent coffee while maintaining speed, organisation and professionalism during busy services
You will:
- Dial in and maintain espresso quality daily
- Produce high-quality milk texturing and latte art consistently
- Work efficiently under pressure during peak service
- Serve customers at the till and handle transactions confidently
- Support on the floor when required, including running food and clearing tables
- Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked coffee station
- Contribute positively to overall service flow
- Engage warmly and professionally with customers
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has solid experience in a busy café environment
- Is confident working high volume without compromising quality
- Has strong knowledge of coffee extraction, grind adjustment and milk technique
- Takes real pride in their craft and presentation
- Is equally comfortable serving customers and being part of a dynamic front-of-house team
- Works quickly, cleanly and calmly under pressure
- Is reliable, proactive and genuinely team-oriented
- Wants to grow with a young, ambitious business
- Has a genuine passion for coffee and takes pride in every cup served
- Enjoys refining technique — from dialling in to consistency throughout the day
- Has a strong eye for detail and cares about quality, flavour and presentation
- Is naturally curious and enthusiastic about coffee, and enjoys talking about it with customers and the team
