Job Title: Energy Sales Consultant – Energy Brokerage
Location: Cheetham Hill M8 (Office-based)
Role Overview
The Energy Sales Consultant is responsible for generating new business opportunities and converting them into long-term customers by selling electricity and gas contracts to SMEs and commercial clients. The role focuses on outbound prospecting, lead generation, qualifying decision-makers, presenting energy supply options, and closing deals while ensuring strong compliance and customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales & Business Development
- Identify, target, and win new SME/commercial energy customers through outbound calling, email, and networking.
- Generate and qualify leads using internal CRM, data sources, and market research.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
- Understand customer requirements and offer suitable electricity/gas contract options through partnered suppliers.
- Negotiate contract terms and close sales in line with pricing and margin targets.
- Meet or exceed daily activity targets (calls, quotes, follow-ups) and monthly sales targets.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with business owners, finance managers, and procurement decision-makers.
- Deliver excellent customer experience from first contact through contract completion.
- Manage renewals and upsell opportunities where applicable.
- Handle objections confidently and ethically.
- Market Knowledge & Supplier Liaison
- Stay updated on UK energy market changes, supplier offers, pricing trends, and contract structures.
- Work closely with pricing/operations teams to ensure accurate and competitive quotes.
- Liaise with supplier portals and internal systems to process contracts correctly.
- Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all customer communication and sales activity meets compliance standards (including TPI rules and GDPR).
- Accurately record all interactions, contract details, and notes in the CRM.
- Ensure contracts are completed correctly and submitted on time.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in outbound B2B sales, telesales, or business development (energy brokerage experience preferred).
- Confident cold caller with strong persuasion and closing ability.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal + written).
- Strong negotiation and objection-handling skills.
- Ability to work in a target-driven environment.
- Comfortable using CRMs, supplier portals, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
Desirable (Nice to Have)
- Experience selling electricity/gas contracts in the UK market.
- Understanding of SME energy contract structures (fixed, variable, multi-meter, out-of-contract).
- Experience in other brokerage environments (telecoms, finance, insurance).
