Here at Specialised Canvas Services, we are looking to recruit a general operative to join our dedicated and talented team.
This role is vital in ensuring at the final stage of the process, we deliver a superb and timely service. You will need to have an excellent attention for detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Housekeeping – Maintaining a clean and tidy warehouse, yard and other designated areas including racking.
- Use of Forklift Truck, including operators’ daily checks and general good practice.
- Use of manual handling equipment such as pump trucks and trollies.
- Adhere to all health & safety regulations when carrying out the above duties.
- Measuring and assembling goods in the factory or warehouse
- Operating production equipment such as CNC Cutting Machine & Heat Press. (Training will be provided)
- Welding when required using a High Frequency welding Machine. (Training will be provided)
- Storing goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse
- Preparing materials for use by other production staff
- Moving materials / finished goods to the appropriate location.
- Packing goods ready for shipment
- Cleaning and maintaining machinery.
- Provide cover for Dispatch (Training will be provided)
- When required, receive and unload deliveries whilst checking all consignments are received, correct and in good condition.
- Maintain the working areas of the Production facility ensuring they are clean, tidy and organised fashion and that Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to.
- Provide cover for the Zund cutting machines when required (training will be provided).
- Any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Directors or other senior managers.
Requirements:
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence (advantageous but not essential as training will be provided)
- Full drivers’ licence
- Computer literacy including Microsoft packages.
- Reasonable flexibility to cover seasonal workloads and late couriers
- Previous experience working in a warehouse/factory environment is essential.
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
- You’ll mainly work in a factory or warehouse. You may spend a lot of your time standing while operating machinery or sitting at a workbench or assembly line.
- You’ll usually wear protective clothing, like overalls and safety shoes.
- This position requires a high level of integrity, discipline and responsibility. It is expected that should you accept this role, that you will uphold the company’s ethos, have a good understanding of the company handbook and lead by example. Failure to do this on 3 occasions within a 6 months period will mean a grade reduction.

The role requires weekly hours of 42.5 Monday – Friday. The core hours are between 08:00 – 17:00.
