We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Active Fire & Security Sales Estimator our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing incoming enquiries, reviewing client specifications, and producing accurate, compliant, and commercially competitive quotations and system designs for active fire and security projects.
Working closely with the Sales Design & Estimation Manager, sales, operations, engineering, and clients, the role supports the pre-construction process from initial enquiry through to quotation, tender submission, and successful project handover.
Duties:
- Review tender documentation, specifications, drawings, and client requirements to develop compliant fire and security system solutions
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and technical proposals for fire alarm, CCTV, access control, intruder alarm, emergency lighting, and integrated security systems.
- Ensure all quotations are commercially competitive, technically accurate, and aligned with company pricing and margin expectations
- Identify labour, material, subcontractor, and project-specific costs to ensure robust estimating
- Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and accurate product information
- Maintain accurate quotation records, estimating documentation, and revision control throughout the tender process.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Respond promptly to customer enquiries, providing technical advice, pricing information, and proposal clarification where required.
- Work collaboratively with sales, operations, engineering, and project delivery teams to ensure customer requirements are fully understood and achieved.
- · Assess project profitability and identify commercial risks during the estimating process.
- Support forecasting activities by maintaining accurate quotation pipelines and reporting information
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential
- Proven experience within an estimating role, preferably within fire protection, fire and security, construction, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong technical knowledge of active fire and security systems.
- Experience preparing accurate quotations, estimates, and technical proposals.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple quotations, enquiries, and deadlines simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated, highly organised, and capable of working independently and collaboratively.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site surveys where required
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience within fire and security estimating, design, construction estimating, or a related technical role.
Desirable
- Experience within the fire protection, electronic security, or life safety industry
- Knowledge of British Standards and industry regulations relating to fire alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarm systems.
- Experience using estimating software, CRM systems, CAD packages, or tender management platforms.
- Relevant technical qualifications within fire and security disciplines.
- Knowledge of value engineering principles and commercial estimating techniques.
