Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Freelance Seamstress to join our creative team. This role involves crafting, altering, and repairing garments and textiles to meet specific client requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong sewing skills, experience working in a warehouse or production environment, and the ability to work independently on flexible schedules. Responsibilities
- Sew, alter, and repair garments and textiles according to client specifications and project guidelines.
- Operate sewing machines and related equipment efficiently and safely.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Organise materials, fabrics, and tools within a designated workspace for optimal workflow.
- Communicate effectively with the team and production managers regarding design details, deadlines, and adjustments.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and organisational policies.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace to promote efficiency and safety.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sewing, with a strong portfolio demonstrating craftsmanship in costumes ideally for theatre and stage shows.
- Previous warehouse or production experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of different fabrics, stitches, and sewing techniques.
- Reliable access to sewing equipment and materials needed for freelance working.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with clients or project coordinators.
- Ability to work from home and visit venues locally when required for fittings and alterations as required.
