Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Personal Assistant/Carer to provide dedicated support to 2 young female adults. Both girls have complex health needs resulting in them requiring 24 hour care.
There is already a full experienced Care team in position.
This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting the Care team to ensure the girls get a reasonable amount of good quality social interaction outside of their shared accomodation.
The ideal candidate will be energetic, attentive, and possess excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to promoting independence and comfort.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Care Team with daily routines, including on occasion, personal hygiene, dressing, ensuring safety and dignity at all times. Some manual handling will be required whilst carrying out these duties.
- Actively search out suitable activities in the local area which the girls might enjoy and ensure these are diarised and communicated across the wider care team.
- Take the lead on organising the girls to go out on such trips. Each girl has an automatic car which is modified for wheel chair use. Another Carer will accompany the PA when going out as 2 people are required to safely manoeuvre the wheelchair into the car, etc.
- Maintain clear and open communication with the individual, family members, and healthcare professionals to coordinate activities effectively
- Perform some household tasks such as light cleaning.
- Keep accurate records of care activities, updates on health status, and any incidents or concerns that arise during shifts
- Adapt to changing needs by being flexible and responsive in delivering personalized solutions.
- Valid driving license and comfortable with driving an automatic car.
- Previous experience in a care home setting or home care environment is highly desirable but not essential.
- Ability to understand and follow detailed care plans while maintaining flexibility for individual preferences
- Proficiency in basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to build trusting relationships
- Strong interpersonal skills with a caring attitude and patience when supporting individuals with diverse needs
