Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. This role involves supporting the preparation and cooking of meals in a busy kitchen environment, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
- Cook and assemble meals according to specified recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure all food is stored correctly and labelled appropriately
- Support the serving of meals to customers or clients in a timely manner
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times to prevent accidents or contamination
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying management of shortages
- Support other kitchen staff as needed during busy periods or special events
Skills
- Experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and serve customers professionally
- Previous restaurant or catering experience is desirable but not essential; willingness to learn is key
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as required
