Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team and drive excellence on the road! In this vital role, you will be responsible for safely operating large freight vehicles, primarily flatbed trucks, to deliver goods efficiently and reliably. Your expertise in commercial driving and delivery operations will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties
- Safely operate HGV Class 1 vehicles, including flatbed trucks, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each shift to ensure safety and compliance
- Load and secure cargo on flatbed trailers, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure fastening for safe transit
- Plan optimal delivery routes to meet deadlines while minimizing fuel consumption and delays
- Deliver goods directly to customer sites or distribution centers, providing excellent customer service during each interaction
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery logs, inspection reports, and route sheets
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues encountered during transit
Qualifications
- Valid HGV Class 1 license with a clean driving record
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, particularly with flatbed loads and delivery routes
- Strong understanding of driving regulations and safety procedures for large freight vehicles
- Ability to handle physical tasks such as loading/unloading cargo and securing loads on flatbeds
- Excellent navigation skills with experience in route planning for efficient deliveries
- Good communication skills to liaise with dispatchers, customers, and team members effectively
