Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost control related to building projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, ensuring financial efficiency and project success. Responsibilities
- Carry out reviews of tender documents received and provide recommendations for returns.
- Attend tender review meetings.
- Attend Commercial Handover meetings.
- Review and negotiate Subcontract Order terms and conditions to allow agreement in line with the Company Commercial Policy and submitted quotation.
- Attend pre-start meeting as required.
- Review and monitor Subcontractor and Suppliers prices to ensure best value for the Company.
- Prepare and submit applications in a timely manner, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Subcontract Order.
- Ensure the appropriate payment certificates are received in accordance with the Subcontract Order, and assist Business Support in the collection of the certified sums.
- Continually monitor progress on site and prepare and submit in a timely manner any correspondence and/or notifications required in relation to extensions of time, delay and disruption claims and the like.
- Prepare and submit Draft Final Accounts for negotiation and agreement in line with the Commercial Policy and CVR.
- Prepare and submit, in conjunction with the Projects Teams, CVR’s for review.
- Consistently monitor cashflow and projected final account value throughout the project and advise the Senior Management Team immediately of any issues.
- Produce cashflow forecasts.
- Provide commercial assistance to all employees of the Company.
- Regular site visits for the purpose of quantity surveying and estimating, including measurements.
- Lead the use of the allocation application on site, including liaising with Firestem on development and producing reports.
- Relationship management with QSs on each site.
- Adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Line management of the Assistant QS including management of holidays and sickness and effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities as necessary.
- Prepare and provide estimates where necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or in a similar role within the construction industry; minimum 5 years
- Strong expertise in cost control, budgeting, and financial management of projects.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in relevant software tools such as MS Office Suite and specialised estimating or cost management programmes.
- Good understanding of construction contracts, legal frameworks, and procurement processes.
- Strong communication skills, capable of negotiating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management is preferred.
Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
