COOK FOR 30 PLACE CHILDREN NURSERY – PART-TIME POSITION

HOURS OF WORK: 9:30 – 12:30 Mon-Fri
RATE OF PAY: £12.71 per hour
HOLIDAY ENTITLEMENT: 4 weeks plus Bank Holidays. Holidays based on a first come first served basis.
CONTRIBUTERY PENSION
REQUIREMENTS:
· Current Food Hygiene certificate.
· Experience cooking for up to 30 children and 10 staff.
· Good communication skills both verbal and written.
· Fully enhanced DBS check.
· Excellent organisational skills is essential.
· Good use of initiative.
· Experience working in a children’s nursery would be beneficial.
MAIN DUTIES:
· Planning and preparing food to provide nutritious and healthy meals in accordance with Ladybird Lane’s menu which is organised on a 4-weekly basis.
· Cleaning kitchen and all equipment to a very high standard on a daily/weekly basis adhering to food hygiene guidelines set out by the local authority environmental agency.
· Maintaining the highest standards of Health and Safety in the kitchen and other areas of the nursery as deemed appropriate.
· Catering for individual dietary requirements in line with nursery policy and parental wishes.
· Ordering shopping online on a weekly basis.
· Restocking items on a weekly basis to ensure ingredients required for the following week are available as required.
· Rotating stock to ensure all food items are in used in date order.
· Liaise with the assistant manager to order essential kitchen equipment when required.
· To liaise with colleagues before you go on annual leave to ensure the following week(s) menu is understood and provided for.
· To maintain confidentiality regarding any information regarding the children, their families or colleagues.
· To undertake future and/or refresher training as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· Recording frozen food temperatures as it is delivered and before it is placed in the freezer.
· Maintain necessary kitchen procedures including keeping daily written updates of opening and closing fridge and freezer temperatures, and cooked food temperatures in line with food safety laws.
