We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and committed Teaching & Learning Assistant (TLA) to join our dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by supporting children to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.
Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide high-quality support to pupils across the school, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL), and those requiring additional emotional or wellbeing support.
No two days are the same, and you'll play an essential role in creating a safe, inclusive and inspiring learning environment where every child can thrive.
The Role
As a Teaching & Learning Assistant, you will:
Support Pupils by:
- Providing learning support within the classroom, in small groups and on a one-to-one basis.
- Delivering targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher to help pupils overcome barriers to learning.
- Supporting children's literacy by listening to them read, reading stories and encouraging a love of learning.
- Promoting pupils' independence, confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
- Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing and responding sensitively to those who are upset or have experienced accidents.
- Supervising group activities and encouraging positive social interactions.
- Supporting pupils with physical and personal care needs, including intimate care where required, always promoting dignity and independence.
- Assisting with pupils' medical needs, including administering or monitoring medication, supporting medical conditions, enteral (PEG) feeding, first aid and monitoring physical wellbeing.
- Supporting pupils' eating habits and general welfare.
- Contributing to whole-school intervention programmes and medication procedures.
Support Teachers by:
- Adapting learning resources to ensure lessons are accessible for all learners.
- Assisting with classroom organisation, behaviour management and pupil feedback.
- Supporting the implementation of Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans.
- Preparing and maintaining classroom resources and equipment.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping pupils develop self-control and independence.
Support Learning Across the School by:
- Preparing classrooms and maintaining an organised learning environment.
- Using technology to improve pupils' access to learning.
- Providing classroom cover when required, including in unfamiliar classes.
- Supporting educational visits, school events and extracurricular activities.
- Undertaking breaktime and lunchtime supervision duties.
