Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Gardening Assistant to support our landscape and horticultural projects. This role involves assisting with garden maintenance, plant care, and landscape enhancement to ensure outdoor spaces are vibrant, healthy, and well-maintained. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the creation and upkeep of beautiful outdoor environments.
Duties
- Assist with planting, pruning, weeding, and watering plants to promote healthy growth.
- Operate hand tools such as spades, shears, and rakes to maintain garden beds and lawns.
- Support irrigation system installation and maintenance to ensure efficient watering.
- Use power tools safely for tasks such as edging or hedge trimming under supervision.
- Help with landscape maintenance activities including lawn mowing, fertilising, and mulching.
- Assist in the setup and removal of garden features or temporary structures for events or projects.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by clearing debris and ensuring tools are stored properly.
- Support team members in executing specialised horticultural tasks as needed.
Skills
- Experience with gardening or horticulture, including plant care and landscape maintenance.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and familiarity with power tools relevant to gardening tasks.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their upkeep is desirable.
- Growing experience or background in horticulture is advantageous.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure high-quality garden presentation.
- Good physical fitness with the ability to lift moderate loads and perform manual labour over extended periods.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills related to landscape management.
