Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Machine Operator / Engineer to join our doughnut manufacturing facility in Sheffield. This role is ideal for someone with experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting food production machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
About the Role
The Machine Operator / Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of production equipment, minimizing downtime, maintaining machinery, and supporting efficient doughnut production.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate doughnut production and packaging machinery safely and efficiently.
* Monitor machine performance and production output.
* Carry out routine maintenance and equipment inspections.
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical and operational faults.
* Perform machine changeovers and production line setup.
* Work closely with the production team to achieve daily targets.
* Maintain accurate maintenance and production records.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
* Report equipment issues and recommend improvements where appropriate.
Requirements
* Previous experience as a machine operator, maintenance engineer, or production engineer within food manufacturing, bakery production, or a similar environment.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to identify and rectify machinery faults.
* Experience with preventative maintenance programs.
* Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable
* Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering).
* Experience with automated food production equipment.
* Knowledge of PLC-controlled machinery.
* Food Safety and Hygiene certification.
