Job Summary
Guitar Teacher
Join one of the North East’s fastest-growing and most highly rated independent music schools.
Saltburn School of Music is looking for an exceptional guitar teacher to join our team.
This isn’t just another teaching job. We’re looking for someone who genuinely loves inspiring people through music, takes pride in their teaching, and wants to be part of a supportive, ambitious and welcoming team.
Our school has grown rapidly and now teaches almost 150 one-to-one students every week across a wide range of instruments. We have beautiful, purpose-built teaching rooms, an excellent reputation, and students who are eager to learn.
You’ll be teaching a mixture of children and adults, from complete beginners through to advanced players. Some students learn purely for enjoyment, while others work towards grades, performances and personal goals, so you’ll need to be confident adapting your teaching to suit each individual. We support students who wish to take exams through both ABRSM and RSL Awards (Rockschool), and we encourage teachers to prepare students for these when appropriate.
One of the biggest advantages of working with us is that we take care of the business side of things, allowing you to focus on what you do best – teaching. We manage all communication with parents and students, handle bookings, invoicing and administration, and support exam entries. If a student cancels a lesson, you are still paid in full. We teach throughout the year, including school holidays, giving you a consistent income, while also giving you the flexibility to choose when you take your own holidays.
Our teaching team includes experienced educators alongside professional performing musicians, with some of our teachers regularly touring with internationally renowned artists. We value excellence, professionalism and a genuine passion for helping students thrive.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is an exceptional guitarist and able to teach confidently to Grade 8 standard and beyond.
- Has previous one-to-one teaching experience.
- Can teach a variety of styles including acoustic, electric, pop and rock.
- Is confident teaching children, teenagers and adults.
- Is reliable, organised and punctual.
- Builds excellent relationships with students and parents.
- Creates engaging, enjoyable lessons while maintaining high standards.
- Is passionate about helping every student achieve their potential.
- Wants to be part of a friendly, supportive and ambitious team.
We believe music lessons should be something students genuinely look forward to every week. We work hard to create an environment where students feel encouraged, challenged and inspired, and we’re looking for a teacher who shares those values.
Applications will only be considered from candidates who:
- Have previous one-to-one teaching experience.
- Can teach guitar to at least Grade 8 standard.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) an enhanced DBS check.
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) Public Liability Insurance.
If you’re passionate about music education and believe you’d be an excellent fit for our team, we’d love to hear from you.
