Job Overview
QuickBNG Ltd is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Seasonal Full-Time Ecological Consultant to join our growing team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to ecological surveys, biodiversity assessments, habitat evaluations, and environmental consultancy projects across the UK.
The successful candidate will support a variety of ecological projects through fieldwork, data analysis, report preparation, and technical assessments. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about ecology, conservation, and sustainable environmental management, with strong analytical and organisational skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ecological surveys and site assessments in accordance with current industry standards and best practices.
- Collect, process, analyse, and interpret ecological data from field surveys and desktop studies.
- Assist in the preparation of Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments, habitat surveys, and ecological reports.
- Produce accurate maps and spatial analyses using GIS software where required.
- Review ecological survey footage and assist with protected species assessments.
- Maintain detailed records of survey findings, project data, and technical documentation.
- Support environmental impact assessments and biodiversity enhancement strategies.
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and project stakeholders when required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, guidance, and health and safety requirements.
- Assist with project delivery while meeting agreed deadlines and quality standards.
Requirements:
Essential
- Degree (2:1) in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Conservation, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of UK ecology, habitats, and environmental legislation.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
- High level of attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.
Desirable
- Experience conducting ecological surveys.
- Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) principles and assessment methodologies.
- Experience using QGIS, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or similar GIS software.
- Familiarity with bat surveys, protected species surveys, and habitat assessments.
- Experience using Python for ecological data analysis or automation.
- Associate or Full Membership of CIEEM.
- Protected species licences or working towards obtaining them.
Working Hours
- 37.5 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday.
- Core availability required between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
- Occasional early morning, evening, or weekend work may be required to support survey schedules and project requirements.
