Senior Care Assistant
Location: Archer Road, Sheffield
Pay: £14.37 per hour
Hours: Full-time – 40 contracted hours per week (15 office hours + 25 contracted care hours)
On-Call: 1 night per week + 1 weekend in 4, paid separately in addition to the 40-hour contract
About the Role
Serenta is looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Care Assistant to join our team in Sheffield.
This is a varied role combining hands-on care with senior responsibilities. You will support our Care Coordinators and care team to ensure our service users receive high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence and choice.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality care and personal care to service users.
- Support and guide care staff within the team.
- Carry out staff spot checks, service user checks and medication checks.
- Support with care plans, risk assessments, reviews and assessments.
- Assist with the induction, shadowing and introduction of new care staff.
- Act as a key contact for designated service users.
- Communicate with service users, families, care staff and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
- Work closely with Care Coordinators and the Registered Manager.
- Support the team with on-call duties and provide care or emergency cover when required.
On-Call Commitment
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the on-call rota:
- 1 weekday night per week
- 1 weekend in every 4 weeks
- On-call duties are paid separately and are in addition to the 40 contracted hours.
- On-call involves supporting care staff, dealing with queries, arranging cover and providing care where required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience in a care role, including personal care.
- Holds or is currently working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
- Is confident supporting and guiding other care staff.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Can work independently and use their own initiative.
- Has a positive, professional and flexible approach.
- Is confident using IT and completing accurate records.
- Understands confidentiality, safeguarding and care policies.
- Is committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care.
