Assistant Bar Manager — Høst

Høst is looking for an Assistant Bar Manager to help run our floor. We’re a natural wine bar built around community, curiosity, and good vibes — not pretension. This role suits someone who knows their way around a wine list but cares just as much about how a regular’s evening goes.
What you'll do
- Support the Bar Manager in day-to-day floor operations, staff scheduling, and service standards
- Help train staff on natural wine fundamentals, our list, and guest-facing scripts
- Advise guests on wine pairings and by-the-glass selections with genuine, unpretentious expertise
- Assist with wine ordering, stock rotation, and cellar management
- Help with planning & executing marketing events
- Contribute to menu and drinks list development alongside the management team
- Help maintain pricing and margin targets across the wine-by-the-glass program
- Step in as MOD (manager on duty) when needed
What we're looking for
- 2+ years in bar or floor management, ideally in wine-focused hospitality
- Some sommelier training or working knowledge of natural, low-intervention wine (WSET Level 2+ or equivalent experience welcome, not required)
- A warm, easy way with guests — able to talk wine without gatekeeping
- Comfortable with the operational side: rostering, stock, opening/closing procedures
- Genuine enthusiasm for natural wine and independent hospitality
