The Supply Room is looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a local mainstream primary school in the borough of Newham.
These vital roles involves providing personalised support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the encouragement and assistance necessary to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
You will work closely with teachers, parents, and specialists to create a nurturing environment that promotes individual growth and confidence. This exciting position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one support to students with special educational needs, tailoring assistance to their unique requirements
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) designed by educators and specialists
- Support students with autism, SEMH difficulties, Speech and language and other learning challenges in classroom activities and daily routines
- Foster positive communication and social skills through engaging interactions and encouragement
- Help manage behaviour and promote a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and activities that meet each student’s developmental level
- Support with toddler care when necessary, ensuring a nurturing and safe environment for younger children
What we're looking for...
- Experience working with individuals with autism and other learning difficulties
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to adapt approaches for diverse learners
- Previous experience working with children in educational or care settings
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies for supporting children with special needs
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, parents, and specialists
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive attitude towards supporting individual student growth
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
