SRL works in partnership with our clients, across the UK and internationally, to identify the most cost-effective and practical ways to handle acoustics, noise, vibration and air quality issues, often on high-profile national projects. We are currently looking for a Laboratory Apprentice or Trainee to join our team.
What will the role involve?
- Working in the onsite Laboratory
- Preparing and calibrating monitoring and Laboratory equipment
- Completing proposals and reporting
- Project management
- Checking data
- Servicing and repairing equipment
- Testing new systems and services
- Developing customer information
- Improving efficiency of monitoring office-based duties
- Telephoning customers
- Filing equipment and test records
- Assisting with facilities tasks in the lab and the surrounding grounds
- Driving a fork lift (full training will be provided)
We would consider a Trainee or an Apprenticeship for this role. If you would prefer to do an apprenticeship the course is the Mechatronics Maintenance standard Apprenticeship qualification, with day release to West Suffolk College.
The expected career progression after this apprenticeship or in-house training programme is the opportunity to progress to a Lab Engineer, Senior Engineer, Manager or Team Leader.

Things to consider
This role can involve driving to site when assisting the Monitoring Team, so you must be able to drive and hold valid license. Working within a team of experienced Engineers, the apprentice/trainee will learn both sides of the business for the Monitoring team and the onsite Laboratory. Full PPE will be provided for the role.
The role involves both desk-based and practical/site-based activities.
Some practical experience would be useful.
Salary for Trainee: £26,700
Salary for Apprenticeship: NMW for age
