Area Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Area Manager to join the team at Joseph Holt Ltd on a permanent contract.
The Role
The Area Manager is responsible for leading, supporting and developing General Managers, Retail Partners and Tenants across a designated area, ensuring operational excellence, commercial performance and exceptional customer experiences are consistently delivered.
Key Responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
· Setting and driving sales, turnover and profit targets across the area
· Lead, coach and develop General Managers, Retail Partners and Tenants to maximise performance.
· Identify commercial opportunities and implement action plans to improve sales, profitability and operational standards.
· Recruit and induct General Managers, Retail Partners and Tenants
· Drive exceptional customer service and operational excellence.
· Implementing action plans that lead to change or improvement
· Monitor business performance and use data and KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
· Ensuring quality control of products and customer service across their area
· Support pubs in delivering successful local events and community fundraising initiatives.
· Ensure Joseph Holt standards are consistently maintained across all pubs.
· Build strong working relationships across the business and work collaboratively with support departments.
· Ensure compliance with Company policies and all relevant licensing, employment and health & safety legislation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, exceptional leadership skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. They will be passionate about hospitality, developing people, driving business performance and maintaining the high standards expected across the Joseph Holt estate.
The successful candidate:
· Minimum 3 years' experience in an Area Manager position; or
· A proven track record as a successful Pub Operator or General Manager, demonstrating commercial success, people leadership and operational excellence.
· Excellent inter-personal, verbal and written communications skills and able to deal with colleagues at all levels of the business.
· Able to work autonomously whilst managing a diverse workload across multiple sites.
· Ability to establish good working relationships both internally and externally.
· Reliable and a flexible attitude to work. Hard working, with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy on work produced.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop.
- Demonstrates resilience, initiative and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time and prioritise workload effectively.
- Operate with a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Technical Requirements:
· Ideally will live within a 30-mile radius of Manchester city centre as the role involves a lot of travelling to different sites across the Northwest of England.
· Full, clean GB Driving Licence
· Confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Power BI and Excel, together with other business systems.

Who are we?
Joseph Holt is an independent, six-generation family-owned company, with 128 pubs across the Northwest, ranging from traditional community pubs, food led destination pubs and some with onsite letting rooms. Since 1849 we have been brewing a wide range of award-winning beers in our Manchester brewery, which have won 9 Gold Medals at the International Brewing Awards at the last 9 International Brewing Awards in the last 14 years alone.
