Sanctuary Homes is opening a two-bed therapeutic children’s home in Milton Keynes. The property is ready, the Registered Manager is appointed, and the Statement of Purpose, policies and business plan are complete. We are days from submitting our SC1 application.
We are looking for an experienced Responsible Individual to take it through registration and beyond — and to help build the homes that follow.

Essential — this one is non-negotiable
You have personally taken a children’s home from registration through to a Good or Outstanding Ofsted inspection rating. Not inherited a rated home. Taken one from registration to that outcome. If you haven’t done this, please don’t apply.
Ideal
You have done it from a standing start — taking a new home through the priority registration route to Ofsted approval, then on to Good or Outstanding. That is exactly the journey we are on.
The role
- Hold Responsible Individual duties under Regulations 26 and 27
- Take the SC1 application through to registration
- Supervise and support the Registered Manager
- Own Regulation 44 and 45 oversight and quality assurance
- Lead on safeguarding culture and regulatory compliance
- Act as the point of contact for Ofsted
- Help shape the model as further homes come online
Also required
- Strong working knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
- Genuine trauma-informed, relational practice — not compliance alone
- Credible with inspectors
- Lives within reasonable travelling distance of Milton Keynes
- Meets Regulation 27 fitness requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or equivalent
