Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and dependable Relief Minibus Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely transporting Special Education needs Children, Elderly Clients and Groups ensuring timely and courteous service. This position is to cover holiday and sickness.
As a Relief Minibus Driver, you will also provide support in covering shifts for School Routes, Dial-A-Ride and Public Service, maintaining vehicle safety standards, and delivering excellent communication with passengers and team members.
This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to community mobility while demonstrating strong driving skills and mechanical knowledge.
We will also carry out a DBS (Criminal background checks)
Responsibilities
- Safely operate the minibus on designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and company policies
- Provide reliable relief coverage for scheduled drivers, ensuring seamless transportation services
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents or concerns during service
- Communicate effectively with passengers, team members, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address any issues
- Assist with basic vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleaning the vehicle
- Follow all safety protocols to ensure passenger safety at all times
- You will training in all services as well as wheelchair training
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle checks and troubleshoot minor issues
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver, would be an advantage but not essential
- Must have a Category D1
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record and familiarity with local routes
- Ability to communicate clearly in English with passengers and team members
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures and safety standards
- Reliable and punctual with the ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules or coverage needs
- Strong communication skills to handle passenger interactions professionally and courteously
