About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join our Engineering Team. This role is responsible for maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment, ensuring maximum uptime, safety, quality, and operational efficiency across the site.
The successful candidate will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), respond to breakdowns, support continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to the installation and modification of plant machinery and site facilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & Safety
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Support contractor management, permits to work, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Engineering & Maintenance
- Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with schedules.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
- Perform machine overhauls, repairs, and installations.
- Work with single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
- Support factory and site facility maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, labour hours, and parts usage.
- Assist in managing engineering stores and spare parts inventory.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive improvements in equipment reliability and performance.
- Support production teams with technical expertise and problem-solving.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Assist with engineering projects and equipment upgrades.
Teamwork & Communication
- Build effective relationships with production and operational teams.
- Train and support key operators in machine care and basic maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with management and colleagues.
- Work collaboratively to achieve site performance targets.
Skills & Experience RequiredEssential
- Qualified Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias.
- 18th Edition Electrical Qualification.
- Recognised Electrical or Mechanical Apprenticeship.
- Minimum 3 years' engineering experience within a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Desirable
- HND, Degree, or equivalent engineering qualification.
- Food Safety Level 3 Hygiene Certificate.
- IOSH qualification.
- PLC and automation experience.
- BRC manufacturing experience.
