Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Playgroup Leader to work as part of our management team, supporting the Playgroup Leader in ensuring the professional operation of the Playgroup.
The role includes responsibility for the day-to-day running of the group in the absence of the Playgroup Leader, supporting staff, contributing to the development and implementation of the curriculum, and helping to ensure effective safeguarding, inclusion and smooth daily operation of the setting.
Duties
- Understand and implement the Playgroup curriculum.
- Work as part of the Playgroup management team, ensuring the professional operation of the Playgroup supporting the Playgroup Leader.
- Support staff development and assist with supervisions and appraisals when required.
- Undertake designated officer roles as directed.
- Ensure health, safety, and hygiene protocols are strictly followed within the nursery environment.
- Source cover for staff absence.
- Maintain accurate records related to children's attendance, development milestones, and incident reports.
- Fulfil the role of keyperson, conducting regular observations on our online journal, and accessing/reviewing children's next steps.
- Attendance and participation in fundraising events, committee meetings etc.
- Lead the planning & implementation of curriculum activities which are age & developmentally
- Keep a daily register of children & conduct regular observations.
Qualifications
- Proven management and leadership experience within childcare or nursery settings.
- Strong working knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development stages.
- Experience working directly with children, preferably in nursery or preschool environments.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative and organisational skills.
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Passion for working with children and commitment to their safety, growth, and happiness. Pay: From £14.61 per hour
