Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Maintenance Technician to carry out general maintenance and remedial works across our student accommodation properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that buildings, rooms, and communal areas are maintained to a safe, functional, and high standard for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and remedial works throughout the accommodation.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, including fixing leaks, replacing taps, unblocking sinks, and minor pipework repairs.
- Undertake basic electrical maintenance, such as replacing light fittings, bulbs, switches, sockets, and conducting visual inspections.
- Conduct and record weekly fire alarm tests in accordance with safety procedures.
- Conduct and record weekly emergency lighting and alarm system checks.
- Complete painting and decorating works, including touch-ups and room refurbishments.
- Carry out basic joinery and carpentry tasks, such as repairing doors, locks, furniture, shelving, and fixtures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests raised by residents and management.
- Assist with room turnaround and refurbishment projects during student move-in and move-out periods.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Liaise with external contractors when specialist works are required.
- Monitor and report any health, safety, or building-related concerns.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities, or building services role.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and decorating works.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve minor maintenance issues independently.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and prioritise tasks.
- Good communication and customer service skills when dealing with residents and staff.
Desirable
- Experience working within residential, student accommodation, hospitality, or property management environments.
- Health & Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH Working Safely).
- Basic Fire Safety Awareness training.
- Full UK driving licence (if required).

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
