Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Bookkeeper to join our professional team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in legal accounting processes, and supporting the firm's financial operations. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and a strong understanding of accounts payable procedures. The successful applicant will play a vital part in maintaining compliance and supporting the legal team's financial health.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records using Xero accounting software
- Process accounts payable transactions efficiently and accurately
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial data is correctly recorded
- Quarterly VAT returns
- Assist with preparing financial reports and statements for legal cases or audits
- Support the legal team with billing, invoicing, and expense tracking
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and firm policies
- Collaborate with external accountants or auditors during financial reviews or audits
- Maintain organised documentation of all financial transactions for easy retrieval and review
Experience
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably within a legal or professional services environment
- Proficiency in accounting software Xero
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general ledger management
- Familiarity with legal billing procedures is advantageous but not essential
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently whilst managing multiple priorities effectively
