We are looking for a passionate, caring, and motivated Deputy room leader to join our friendly nursery team in Harehills. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is ready to take the next step in their career and support the Room Leader in delivering outstanding care and education.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the room while providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
About You
- Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years (Level 2 applicants with significant experience may be considered).
- Have previous experience working within an Early Years setting.
- Be enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to providing high-quality childcare.
- Have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and safeguarding practices.
- Be able to work collaboratively as part of a team while supporting and mentoring colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Room Leader with the daily organisation and smooth running of the nursery room.
- Lead the room in the absence and alongise of the Room Leader, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained.
- Build warm, positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Support children's learning and development across all areas of the EYFS through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
- Observe, assess, and record children's progress, using observations to plan for their next steps and share development with parents and carers.
- Promote children's health, safety, and wellbeing, including meeting personal care needs such as feeding, toileting, and nappy changing.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and enabling environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Follow all safeguarding procedures, nursery policies, and health and safety requirements.
- Encourage children's physical, emotional, social, and communication development through positive interactions and planned experiences.
- Support children with additional needs, working alongside families and external professionals where appropriate.
- Take children on local walks, outings, and educational visits, ensuring all risk assessments and safety procedures are followed.
- Act as a positive role model for the team, supporting and guiding colleagues to maintain high standards of practice.

Pay: £25,000.00-£26,007.12 per year
