Manager – House Operations
Raintree House Holidays Ltd is a holiday house rental and management business currently looking for a competent and experienced manager to run its House Management team in our small, friendly office near Padstow, North Cornwall.
We are a young and motivated team in a very prestigious and beautiful part of North Cornwall aiming for continued growth over the next 5 years. We are located in a rural setting at Porthcothan in North Cornwall in purpose-built offices situated right on the headland - ideal for coastal lunchtime walks.
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual to join us as manager of our House Management team, working closely with other department managers, including monthly meetings. There is potential for the right candidate to develop the role to a more senior level in the near future.
The role is full-time, ideally with at least 3-4 days working in the office and the option for 1-2 days working from home per week. However, we would require the successful applicant to spend at least 4 days per week in the office for the first 3-6 months whilst they settle into the position. The role includes some weekend cover from home on a rota basis with 2-3 other team members.

Main requirements for this role
- Responsible for all House Management administration and the House Management team, covering all Raintree House Holidays houses. This covers these areas:
- Management of the primary working relationship with all Raintree owners
- Management of our relationship with Raintree guests
- Logging, management and resolution of guest and house issues
- Management of regular tasks, such as fire equipment servicing, PAT tests, chimney sweeps, gardening
- Management of house caretakers and subcontractors
- Liaison with subcontractors, house owners, guests, and managers and staff of other departments
- Cooperation with management team to discuss and assist with business issues and plans
- Report monthly to the management board and as required to directors
- Provide assistance to the letting side of the business when necessary (e.g. taking bookings, talking to guests and covering lettings administration)
- Provide admin assistance for the accounting and housekeeping side of the business when necessary
Essential experience and skills for this role
- Experience and competence managing a team of staff, including recruitment, review, and work allocation
- Experience of dealing with senior professionals and high net worth individuals, demonstrating detail, patience, and a sense of humour
- Experience of a customer service environment, prioritisation of work, a patient manner and an ability to deal with pressure at busy times of year
- Enthusiastic and happy individual, with interest and patience to work with owners, guests, caretakers, and other tradesmen as required; along with experience of running a HelpDesk, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in entry/resolution
- Be a ‘self-starter’ – able to understand the need and take responsibility in a variety of situations
- Some practical understanding of buildings and logistics and a can-do approach to issues and problems
- Confident telephone manner and familiarity with computer software, such as email, software packages and websites
- Dedicated and detailed, along with an ability to work with high levels of accuracy and numeracy, working with sensitivity and empathy where required
- Comfortable to work full days on the computer, on the phone and also visiting owners, guests and houses when required
Salary to be between £37,000 - 42,000 for the ideal candidate, commensurate with experience. Further opportunities and remuneration may be available to candidates with experience at higher levels.
