Pro Centre Executive – LCV Specialist
Budgen Motors Shrewsbury
Competitve Basic Salary| Uncapped OTE | Company Vehicle | Performance-Driven Commission
Become the Face of Our LCV Business
Budgen Motors Shrewsbury is looking for an ambitious, commercially driven and highly proactive Pro Centre Executive to take ownership of our Light Commercial Vehicle operation.
This isn't a traditional showroom sales role.
We are looking for someone who will become the face, voice and consistent point of contact for our Pro Centre and LCV customers – someone who takes personal responsibility for raising awareness, generating opportunities, developing local business relationships and driving our commercial vehicle operation forward.
You'll work closely with our management and marketing teams, but ultimately we want someone who thinks of the Pro Centre as their business within our business.
Someone who doesn't wait for the phone to ring.
Someone who goes out and creates the opportunity.
An Exciting Time to Join Budgen Motors
Following significant investment in our brand-new Stellantis Brand Centre, Budgen Motors is entering an exciting period of growth in Shrewsbury.
Our new facility brings together Citroën, Peugeot, Vauxhall, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Abarth under one roof, providing an extensive passenger and commercial vehicle offering and creating a significant opportunity to develop our LCV presence across Shropshire and the surrounding area.
We want an exceptional Pro Centre Executive who sees the scale of that opportunity and wants to make it their own. This role has opportunity in abundance to scale with a growing segment of the Budgen business.
This Is Your Market
A major part of this position will be taking ownership of the local LCV market.
We want you to understand who the businesses are, what vehicles they operate, when they change them and how Budgen Motors can support them.
You'll proactively develop relationships with:
- Local tradespeople and sole traders
- SMEs and growing businesses
- Local and regional fleets
- Construction and property businesses
- Service and maintenance companies
- Delivery and logistics operators
- Existing Budgen Motors business customers
- Previous LCV customers
- Businesses currently operating competitor vehicles
- Local organisations and professional networks
This means getting out of the dealership.
You'll visit businesses, pick up the telephone, attend networking opportunities, organise events, use social media and continually look for new ways to put our commercial vehicle offering in front of potential customers.
We don't simply want you to manage an LCV database. We want you to build one.
Understand the Customer's Business
Commercial vehicle customers need something different from a conventional retail sales experience.
For many customers, their van isn't simply a vehicle.
It's a fundamental part of how they earn their living.
You'll take the time to understand:
- What their business does
- How their vehicles are used
- Typical mileage and operating requirements
- Payload and load-space requirements
- Towing requirements
- Driver and crew requirements
- Replacement cycles
- Funding requirements
- Fleet size and future growth
- Conversion or specialist body requirements
- The importance of downtime to their operation
Your role is to use that understanding to recommend the right vehicle, specification and funding solution for the customer's business.
We want customers to view you as a trusted commercial vehicle specialist rather than simply someone selling them a van.
Become Our LCV Expert
You'll become the recognised commercial vehicle specialist within Budgen Motors Shrewsbury.
Through manufacturer training and your own development, you'll build exceptional knowledge of our LCV products and the wider commercial vehicle market.
You will:
- Develop expert knowledge of our commercial vehicle ranges
- Understand different vehicle sizes, payloads and configurations
- Confidently explain vehicle technology and specifications
- Understand electric LCV options and help businesses assess suitability
- Understand available conversions and specialist applications
- Maintain knowledge of competitor products
- Understand manufacturer campaigns and business programmes
- Present appropriate funding and ownership solutions
- Conduct professional vehicle demonstrations
- Arrange and manage test drives
- Provide tailored quotations based on business requirements
The objective is simple:
When a customer needs advice about an LCV, we want you to be the person they call.
Drive Brand Awareness
We want to significantly increase the visibility of our commercial vehicle operation locally.
That means marketing cannot simply be something that happens around this role.
You will help drive it.
Working closely with our marketing team, you will:
- Develop regular LCV-focused campaigns
- Generate ideas for commercial vehicle content
- Create engaging video and social media content
- Showcase individual vehicles and their real-world applications
- Promote offers and manufacturer campaigns
- Develop customer case studies and testimonials
- Identify opportunities for local partnerships
- Organise commercial vehicle events and business mornings
- Attend relevant local events and networking opportunities
- Identify opportunities for off-site vehicle displays
- Develop targeted campaigns for specific industries and customer groups
- Build your own profile as Budgen Motors' commercial vehicle specialist
You don't need to be a professional marketer.
But you do need to have ideas, energy and the confidence to put yourself and our products in front of people.
Build a Local Business Network
Relationships will be at the heart of this role.
We want our Pro Centre Executive to become genuinely connected with the local business community.
You'll proactively identify opportunities to engage with local business groups, networking organisations, trade associations, business parks and other communities where potential LCV customers operate.
Over time, you'll build a substantial network of customers and prospects who know exactly who to contact when they need their next commercial vehicle.
The aim isn't simply to sell one van.
It's to become the person that business comes back to for its second, third and tenth vehicle.
Drive Commercial Performance
This is ultimately a sales role – and you will be expected to deliver results.
You will take personal accountability for:
- LCV sales volume
- New business acquisition
- Enquiry generation
- Enquiry conversion
- Appointments and demonstrations
- Prospecting activity
- Finance and appropriate product penetration
- Profitability
- CRM and pipeline management
- Customer retention
- Repeat business
- Marketing activity
- Local business engagement
- Customer satisfaction
You'll know your numbers and understand exactly where your opportunities sit.
If enquiry levels aren't strong enough, you'll ask:
What can I do to create more?
If there aren't enough businesses in the pipeline:
Who haven't I spoken to yet?
If we're not visible enough locally:
What can we do differently to change that?
We want someone who takes personal accountability for making things happen.
Deliver an Exceptional Business Customer Experience
Being commercially aggressive doesn't mean compromising customer experience.
Quite the opposite.
Business customers value speed, knowledge, communication and reliability.
You will provide a professional and efficient experience from first contact through to delivery and beyond.
That means:
- Responding quickly to enquiries
- Providing accurate information and quotations
- Keeping customers proactively updated
- Doing what you say you will do
- Understanding that a customer's time is valuable
- Coordinating internally to resolve issues quickly
- Delivering professional vehicle handovers
- Maintaining contact after delivery
- Proactively managing future replacement opportunities
We want our business customers to feel that having a relationship with Budgen Motors makes running their vehicles easier.
Be the Consistent Point of Contact
A key part of this position is continuity.
We want customers to know that whatever their commercial vehicle requirement, they have one trusted point of contact at Budgen Motors.
You'll maintain relationships beyond the initial sale and become someone customers contact when their business changes, their fleet grows or another vehicle is due for replacement.
That long-term relationship will be fundamental to building a sustainable and successful Pro Centre operation.
Who Are We Looking For?
Previous LCV or automotive sales experience would be advantageous, but we're equally interested in exceptional B2B salespeople and business developers who have the right attitude and commercial instincts.
You might currently work in automotive sales, fleet, commercial vehicles, business development, account management or another B2B sales environment.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is naturally proactive and commercially driven
- Enjoys generating new business
- Is confident prospecting and approaching businesses
- Can build strong long-term commercial relationships
- Has excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Is comfortable networking and representing the business externally
- Takes personal accountability for their performance
- Is organised and disciplined with CRM and follow-up
- Has a genuine interest in automotive and commercial vehicles
- Understands that customer retention is as important as acquisition
- Is comfortable creating video and digital content
- Wants to develop their own profile within the local business community
- Has ideas and the energy to execute them
- Is motivated by targets and earning potential
- Holds a full UK driving licence
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with energy, personality, commercial instinct and accountability.
What We Offer
- Competitive basic salary
- Uncapped earning potential
- Performance-driven commission structure
- Company vehicle
- Full manufacturer and LCV product training
- Brand-new Stellantis Brand Centre
- Significant opportunity to develop our LCV operation
- The autonomy to build your own customer and prospect portfolio
- Support from our management and marketing teams
- Ongoing coaching and professional development
- 22 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Career progression opportunities within Budgen Motors
- The opportunity to become a recognised LCV specialist across Shropshire
Don't Wait for the Business. Create It.
We aren't looking for someone to sit behind a desk waiting for the next van enquiry to arrive.
We're looking for someone who wants to build something.
Someone who drives past a local business operating five vans and thinks:
“Why aren't they buying them from us?”
Someone who sees a new development, business park or growing local company and sees an opportunity.
Someone who is prepared to pick up the telephone, walk into a business, attend an event, create a video, organise a campaign or simply introduce themselves.
We'll provide the products, facilities, training, marketing support and infrastructure.
We need you to bring the energy, relationships, ideas and relentless commercial drive to turn that opportunity into results.
If you're passionate about automotive, enjoy developing business relationships and want the opportunity to take genuine ownership of a growing commercial vehicle operation, we'd love to hear from you.
