About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice (HR Apprentice) in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
The University of Oxford's Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences is offering a Human Resources Apprenticeship within its supportive HR team. The role provides structured training, mentoring, and the opportunity to gain experience across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee relations, reward and recognition, and staff wellbeing. The HR Apprentice will develop knowledge of University HR policies and procedures while delivering a professional, customer-focused HR service in a busy environment. Alongside on-the-job training, the apprenticeship includes formal study to support professional development and career progression.
About the apprenticeship
As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon & Witney College, where you will complete a HR Support Apprenticeship.
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences in Level 6, West Wing, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, OX3 9DU. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Abingdon & Witney College. During your apprenticeship, you will need to attend Abingdon Campus – 1 day per week for 10 weeks.
In total, it will take 1.5 years to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and Training Provider throughout.

About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in Human Resources and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.
To complete the level 3 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent. Regardless of your prior qualifications Abingdon & Witney College will require you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
