The Role
As Registered Manager, you will hold overall accountability for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards. You will lead a dedicated staff team, build strong relationships with Ofsted, local authorities, families, and partner agencies, and drive positive outcomes for the young people in our care.
Key responsibilities:
- Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the home
- Lead the home through its Ofsted registration and first inspection cycle
- Recruit, lead, supervise, and develop a team of care staff, ensuring safe staffing at all times
- Embed our core ethos and values into the everyday culture and practice of the home
- Maintain full compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Statement of Purpose
- Oversee safeguarding, risk management, placement planning, and matching
- Manage budgets, occupancy, referrals, and admissions
- Ensure high-quality care planning, record-keeping, and child-centred practice
- Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and drive continuous improvement
- Build strong working relationships with local authorities, families, schools, and health professionals
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it within the required timeframe
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a role relevant to the residential care of children (within the last 5 years)
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in a supervisory or management role in a residential childcare setting
- Sound working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted inspection framework
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience of managing complex risk
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Right to work in the UK
