Overview
Panacea is a small, therapeutic 2-bed children’s home for young people aged 8–16 with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). We provide stable, nurturing care, a trauma-informed (PACE) approach, and a strong safeguarding culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide warm, consistent care using PACE; prevent and de-escalate behaviours, using trained responses only as a last resort.
- Keep young people safe through vigilant risk awareness, timely recording, and confident safeguarding escalation.
- Follow missing-from-care procedures (incl. Return Home conversations) and support learning after incidents.
- Promote education, health, independence skills, and participation in house decisions and activities.
- Maintain clear, professional records in line with data protection and confidentiality expectations.
- Contribute to an inclusive, anti-discriminatory culture; challenge bullying and exploitation.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the home and the overall business objectives of the home.
You will bring

- Flexibility to work a rolling rota (days/evenings/weekends/sleep-ins) and to travel locally when required.
- Desirable: experience in residential childcare/EBD; Level 3/4 Residential Childcare (or willingness to enrol).
Training & support
You will receive a structured induction and ongoing CPD, including priority safeguarding, Prevent, CSE/CCE, reporting & recording, behaviour support/PMVA, GDPR and paediatric first aid. Regular supervision and refresher training provided.
Shifts, location & pay
- Base: East Tilbury, Essex (RM18 area).
- Rota: Mix of long days, evenings, weekends; sleep-ins required.
- Pay: £13 per hour : pension; paid training; progression routes.
