Join the vibrant team at Alandas Gelato during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a dedicated staff member. - you must be available to work 40 hrs per week from the 1st of august until the 31st of august and have no holidays booked between those dates.
Duties
- Serve gelato and other menu items to customers in a friendly and efficient manner
- Assist with food preparation, ensuring quality and presentation standards are maintained
- Handle cash transactions accurately and operate POS systems
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the serving area in compliance with food safety standards
- Upsell products to maximise sales opportunities while providing excellent customer service
- Restock supplies as needed and assist with basic kitchen tasks during quieter periods
- Engage with customers to enhance their festival experience through friendly interaction and product knowledge
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently to ensure a safe environment for both staff and visitors
Skills
- Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are key
- Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Experience in food preparation or kitchen work is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be provided
- Strong time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently
- Ability to work well within a team and maintain a positive attitude under pressure
- Upselling skills to promote products confidently and increase sales potential
- Excellent communication skills to engage with diverse visitors and colleagues effectively
