Business Optimisation Manager
Location: Stoke-on-Trent / National
Salary: £55,000 DOE
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Travel: Regular UK travel required
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Business Optimisation Manager to join a large national organisation, supporting the improvement of operational performance, productivity and efficiency across complex service environments. This is a highly analytical but operationally focused position. You will use existing business and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, understand the root causes behind performance challenges and work directly with operational teams to implement measurable change.We are particularly interested in candidates with experience within either:
Retail & Catering Operations – working within high-volume catering, food service, retail or similar multi-site environments.
Facilities Management – particularly cleaning, portering and soft FM services within hospitals, NHS, government, public sector or other large-scale operational contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse operational, productivity and performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- Translate complex data into clear, practical recommendations for operational teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste and increase operational efficiency.
- Review existing processes and ways of working to identify where improvements can be made.
- Develop and implement optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Measure the impact of improvement projects and demonstrate tangible results.
- Work closely with operational leaders to understand challenges at site level.
- Support teams in embedding new processes and improved ways of working.
- Identify root causes behind performance issues rather than simply reporting on the data.
- Develop performance measures and use data to track improvements.
- Engage and influence stakeholders at operational and senior management level.
- Share best practice across contracts, sites and operational teams.
- Travel nationally to operational sites as required.

You should be comfortable working with large amounts of operational data, but equally comfortable getting out into the business, speaking with operational teams and understanding how services actually work.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience within business optimisation, continuous improvement, operational excellence or productivity improvement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to use data to identify opportunities and drive operational change.
- Experience delivering measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency or performance.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Ability to challenge existing processes constructively.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how operational improvements affect cost and service delivery.
- Experience working across multiple sites or large-scale operations would be advantageous.
- Lean, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies would be beneficial.
Sector Experience
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience in one of the following areas:
Retail & Catering:
High-volume catering, contract catering, food service, retail, hospitality or multi-site operations.
Facilities Management:
Soft FM, cleaning, portering, healthcare, NHS, hospitals, government contracts or other large-scale service environments.
The Person
This role will suit someone who naturally asks “Why are we doing it this way, and can we do it better?”You will need to be commercially minded, inquisitive and confident challenging established processes. Most importantly, you must be able to take information and data and turn it into practical changes that deliver measurable operational improvements.This is not purely a reporting or data analysis role. You will be expected to spend time within operational environments, understand what is happening on the ground and work with teams to make improvements happen.
Salary: £55,000 DOE
Due to the nature of the position, candidates must be comfortable with regular travel across the UK.
Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
