Job description:
NQ Associate
Regulatory & Investigations
Regional, Permanent
We are Eversheds Sutherland, a global law firm, with 5,000+ colleagues in more than 30 countries. We’re full service with deep niche and sector experience. Whatever challenge, wherever in the world, we’re equipped and ready to meet it. We live our values, we’re purposeful and purpose-led. So although the world is fast-moving and rapidly changing, we see it as a place where everyone can thrive. We’re ambitious for our clients, our communities – and for you. Whether you’re starting out on your career or well established, whether you’re a lawyer or in business services. If you’re looking for what’s next, we are too.
What to expect
As a lawyer, you enjoy a variety of work: regional to international and across practice groups. With us, you grow your global mindset. You’re encouraged to put ideas into action and there’s always something new and different to get involved in. We see the fast-moving world as a place where we can all thrive and succeed. We’re excited for what’s next, so with us, you can be too.
Our team
Our highly regarded Regulatory and Investigations team is dynamic and collaborative, handling high value, complex and often international disputes.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for an NQ Associate to join the team in any of our Regional offices. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside leading specialists within the team, working on investigations for national and global businesses, as well as states and state owned entities, across a wide range of sectors. We act for a broad range of clients including financial institutions, industrials clients (including aerospace and defence and automotive), technology clients, clients in the utilities sector and others.
Whilst the Associate role requires a strong generalist background, there is scope to specialise over time, making this an ideal opportunity for ambitious lawyers looking to grow in a supportive, high performance environment, working for Partners with firmwide leading roles.
Role and Key Responsibilities
The role involves representing clients on a broad range of investigations for our clients, including financial services regulatory investigations, insurance, financial crime (including sanctions, anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption and fraud), product liability issues and public inquiries and many more.
You will have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and most visible cases in the firm as well as taking responsibility for smaller standalone matters. You will work directly with partners and senior lawyers, as well as working within teams of lawyers for larger disputes. You will also have active engagement with clients and colleagues across the business as well as being involved in business development.
Skills and experience
We are looking for:
- Strong academic background and legal training, ideally in disputes and investigations for commercial clients
- NQ - 2 years’ post-qualification experience with exposure to a range of disputes
- A proactive, motivated lawyer with the flexibility to handle a wide variety of matters including the opportunity to develop expertise in specialist areas
- Experience of providing first rate client service
- Exposure to business development activities and a good understanding of how to win work
- Strong communication skills to build effective relationships with existing and new clients
- International or cross-border experience would be a bonus
