Glasllwch Primary School provides education for pupils aged between 3 yrs and 11yrs. It is located in an economically advantaged, residential area of Newport and is within the John Frost cluster of primary schools. There are currently 210 pupils on roll plus 16 full-time equivalent pupils in the nursery which opened in September 2015.

The Governing Body and Headteacher of Glasllwch Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, hardworking, caring and reliable
This will initially be a fixed term, temporary contract from 1 September 2026 to 18 December 2026.
The position is for 15 hours a week, 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday and Tuesday.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
Good communication and interpersonal skills.- The ability to work as part of a dedicated and supportive team.
- A commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for all learners.
- Experience of working within the 3-11 age range, particularly Early Years and ALN pupils.
- High standards in basic skills.
- A love of learning and commitment to ongoing professional development.
- The ability to use their own initiative and to be flexible.
The successful candidate will:
Work under the guidance of teaching staff and/ or members of the school leadership team.- Support individuals and groups of pupils to enable access to learning.
- Assist the teacher with the management of pupils in the classroom and beyond.
- Assist the teacher with admin and developing / maintaining a creative learning environment.
Holidays must be taken during school closure periods. The appointment process will involve an interview with members of the school leadership team and observation of a learning activity with a small group of learners.
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
