Food Production Operative/Machinery Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Food Production Operative/Machinery Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team at Alara Wholefoods. In this role, you will operate and maintain production machinery, ensuring the efficient and safe fabrication of high-quality organic food products. Your mechanical aptitude, hands-on skills, and commitment to food safety will drive the success of our production processes. Duties
- Operate various food production machines, including mixers, mills, packaging equipment, and processing machinery, following detailed work instructions and recipes.
- Set up and adjust machinery to meet production specifications and quality standards.
- Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal and safe operation.
- Handle raw materials safely and efficiently, including loading, unloading, and organizing ingredients and finished products in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Understand ingredient specifications, formulations, and assembly requirements for product integrity.
- Perform quality checks and maintain accurate production records in accordance with BRC and Soil Association requirements.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic work environment by adhering to food safety protocols, personal hygiene standards, and regular inspections.
- Report deviations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience with food production processes, equipment operation, and food handling.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to read technical specifications and work instructions.
- Proficiency with machinery controls, tooling setups, and materials handling equipment.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality checks.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene procedures, and BRC/Soil Association compliance standards.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting with meticulous attention to detail.
