You will deliver engaging GCSE and/or Functional Skills English lessons to learners from a wide range of vocational and academic pathways, inspiring students to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a Part Time Lecturer - English – GCSE and Functional Skills, you will:
- Deliver high-quality GCSE and/or Functional Skills English lessons to learners aged 16+
- Plan, prepare and assess engaging lessons that meet the needs of students with varying abilities
- Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and identifying appropriate support where required
- Create an inclusive and positive learning environment that motivates learners to succeed
- Support students with their academic development, progression and future career aspirations
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to continuously improve teaching, learning and assessment
- Contribute to student recruitment activities including open evenings and interview events
- Complete accurate student records, progress reviews and course documentation
- Promote excellent attendance, engagement and achievement across your classes
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
- A degree in English or a related subject, or a Level 3 qualification with substantial experience teaching GCSE English
- Experience delivering GCSE and/or Functional Skills English within Further Education, schools or adult learning
- A recognised Level 5 teaching qualification (DET, PGCE or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards one with full support provided
- GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or willingness to achieve if required)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to engage learners from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities
- Strong classroom management skills and a positive, adaptable approach to teaching
