As an Outreach Mentor, you’ll do more than just support students – you’ll inspire, guide, and empower them to overcome barriers and believe in their potential. Whether working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or supporting those with SEMH difficulties, your role is central to fostering growth and confidence through compassion and creativity.

Work closely with students through sports, music, art, and mentoring – offering a trusted adult presence and the consistent support they often lack.

Create safe spaces for students to talk, process their emotions, and thrive – helping them build emotional resilience and self-worth.

Deliver 1:1 and group-based support that adapts to the individual needs of students with SEN, ensuring every young person feels seen and supported.

Build trusting relationships that help students succeed socially, emotionally, and academically.

Use creativity and energy to design interactive sessions – think sports, music, drama, and art that connect and inspire.

Help students regulate emotions, navigate challenges, and develop the tools to behave positively in and outside of class.

Adjust your approach based on individual needs, collaborating with school staff and other professionals where needed.

Use Team Teach strategies to de-escalate situations and model resilience, compassion, and calm leadership.

Access Level 2 Team Teach Training (worth £1,500) and ongoing CPD to strengthen your confidence and skills in behaviour support and inclusion.

Daily rates between £109.50 – £130, depending on experience and placement.

Receive £0.45 per mile for travel to outreach and community placements.

Opportunities for permanent school roles paying up to £32,000 per year, supported through Lexia’s strong partnerships.
