Current Opportunity: MEP Planner
Role Purpose: The MEP Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining detailed programmes for Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) works across construction projects. The role ensures that MEP activities are accurately planned, coordinated, and integrated with the overall project programme to achieve successful project delivery.
Location: Based in Birmingham - the Central Region runs from the east of Birmingham into the city centre, comprising Sublot Delta, 1B, 4 and 5S. More than 50% of the structures within IPT Area North are located in the Central Region. This region, which covers a complex urban environment, also includes the 3.5 mile twin bore Bromford Tunnel. It also includes Interchange Station, as well as crossing three major highways (A45, M6 and M42).
Key Accountabilities:
Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed MEP programmes from design through commissioning and handover.
- Integrate MEP activities into the master construction programme.
- Produce short-, medium-, and long-term schedules and look-ahead programmes.
- Monitor progress against baseline programmes and identify potential delays.
- Update project schedules and provide accurate forecasting.
- Programme Management Analyse critical paths and identify programme risks and opportunities.
- Develop recovery plans and mitigation strategies where necessary.
- Track key milestones and ensure MEP activities align with project objectives. Monitor subcontractor performance against agreed timelines.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Produce programme dashboards, S-curves, and performance metrics.
- Communicate programme status and critical issues to project teams and stakeholders.
- Support project reviews and progress meetings.
Design & Construction Coordination
- Work closely with design consultants, construction teams, and subcontractors.
- Ensure design release schedules support construction activities.
- Coordinate commissioning and handover programmes.
- Review procurement schedules to ensure materials and plant arrive in line with project requirements.
Risk Management
- Identify programme-related risks and constraints.
- Support risk workshops and mitigation planning.
- Evaluate the impact of design changes, variations, and delays on project programmes.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Liaise with project managers, package managers, clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
- Present programme updates to senior management and project stakeholders.
Support collaborative planning sessions and workshops.

Essential Experience:
- Previous experience as an MEP Planner, Project Planner, Planning Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems and construction sequencing.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
