Sonic Healthcare UK encompasses the two main entities in the UK, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL). HSL was formed to provide pathology services to the NHS Trusts and has expanded further to provide services to other NHS Trusts. Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls into the category of requiring a DBS check (standard).
About the Laboratory Service:
TDL has held the Pathology Services Contract for several private hospital groups across the UK since 2011. Our laboratories are based within the respective private hospitals, adopting a hub and spoke arrangement to service other hospital and clinics within an appropriate geographical range. We support our clients outpatient, surgical and oncology needs, with regular interaction with the hospital staff.
The Mount Alvernia Laboratory is based within the Circle Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guilford, and supports local services and two other remote hospitals. The laboratory is staffed by four employees weekdays only between 8am to 7pm, and utilises efficient networks of couriers to collect and refer tracked samples between the hospitals and to the Ealing Laboratory.
Analysis is performed onsite according to the agreed onsite repertoire, this being Biochemistry and Hematology Any further testing or samples for other disciplines are referred to our larger central laboratories in London. Roche and Sysmex instrumentation is utilised, and we are transitioning to bespoke single LIMS systems across the entire network.
About the Role:
We are a looking for a suitably experienced BMS to work within Hematology and Biochemistry. Applicants will have significant experience in one of these disciplines, with appropriate qualifications (BSc).
The role will require at minimum day to day processing of samples, validation of results, and management of equipment i.e. IQA, IQC, troubleshooting. The role encompasses multidisciplinary working environment. Further delegation and opportunities for Training Officer/ Quality Representative and People management opportunities would be available.
