As our business continues to grow, we are looking to recruit a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Estimator to join our commercial team.
The Role
The Technical Estimator plays a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business by preparing accurate and competitive quotations for both new and existing customers.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, production and the sales team, you will review engineering drawings and technical specifications to assess manufacturing requirements, estimate production costs and prepare quotations that are commercially competitive whilst maintaining profitability.
This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong commercial awareness and a good understanding of precision engineering and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations from customer drawings, specifications and enquiries.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical data and customer requirements.
- Calculate material, machining, tooling, subcontract and labour costs.
- Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotations for materials and subcontract services.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure estimates reflect manufacturing capability.
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce production costs.
- Maintain quotation records and ensure customer information is accurately recorded.
- Support the sales team with technical information during the quotation process.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Respond to quotation requests within agreed timescales.
- Assist with contract reviews and customer enquiries where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
About You
The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and able to work confidently with technical information.
You will enjoy solving problems, working to deadlines and communicating with colleagues and customers at all levels.
You will have a proactive approach and be comfortable managing multiple quotations simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience within a technical estimating or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of precision engineering and machining processes.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Competent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, fabrication or precision engineering.
- Experience preparing quotations within a subcontract manufacturing environment.
- Commercial or customer-facing experience.
- Engineering qualification or relevant technical background.

Pay: £35,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
