An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Adult Medium Secure Learning Disability inpatient ward to recruit an Activity Facilitator on the Northgate Hospital site in Morpeth to join our Multi Disciplinary Team.
Alwinton ward is a 10 bedded medium-secure service for men with learning disabilities who either have offended or displayed offending type behaviour.
The Activities Facilitator role on Alwinton Ward will help individuals to gain new skills and functioning for the activities of daily living. Work alongside nurses and occupational therapy staff to plan and implement sessions arising from treatment plans
This post is an excellent opportunity for someone who are interested in facilitating the delivery activity, creating connection and promoting engagement within a medium secure inpatient environment alongside a strong nursing and Multi-Disciplinary Team.
The successful candidate will be supporting patients in identifying and carrying out individualised activity as well as leading to provide ward-based group activities. They will also be expected to take an active role in the implementation of Talk 1st and the Safe Ward interventions. The post holder will work closely with the nursing team as well as the wider Multi-Disciplinary Team that includes Occupation Therapy.

The post holder’s focus will be to work towards creating an activity-based culture on the ward environment. They will both provide and co-ordinate a range of social, recreational and leisure activities. The role requires an activity facilitator who is flexible, and responsive to the needs of the service over a seven day period. The Post holder will receive regular supervision from an identified supervisor within the ward team.
